The newly installed Senior Divisional Chief of Alavayno, Togbe Fiaya VI has extended an invitation to investors to invest in Alavanyo, indicating the traditional area is safe for small and large-scale industries.
He explained that the area has enjoyed some lasting peace within the last six years, reaffirming the traditional authority’s commitment to maintaining peace and harmony.
Speaking to Joy News after his introductory ceremony in Alavanyo, he bemoaned the underdeveloped state of the area, which he said was due to the protracted land boundary dispute with their neighbours, Nkonya.
He said, “For almost a century now, we have lacked investment from investors, especially commercial farmers and company owners because of the conflict we have experienced over the years.
"I am very happy and delighted that we have been enjoying peace for almost six years now, we have not had any conflict and I hope this continues.
"Under my tenure, I will make sure there is tranquillity and sustainability of peace between these two communities, Alavanyo and Nkonya.”

Togbe Fiayi VI said they would collaborate with traditional authorities in Nkonya to deepen a peaceful coexistence while channelling their energies towards development and wealth creation.
“They are brothers, our neighbouring community, we don't need to fight, we need to unite and help each other to push forward development. In my tenure as the Chief of Alavanyo Wudidi, I shall make sure that peace becomes the oxygen we breathe every day”, he said.
He stressed that the actions of his subjects would remain within the confines of the law and warned that any individual whose actions would be found to disrupt the peace in the area would be dealt with.
“I am not going to joke when it comes to building peace between Alavanyo and Nkonya, whoever goes against the laws will be dealt with seriously, especially with our customary practices in Alavanyo” he added.
Togbe Fiaya VI, who is also the Left-Wing Chief to the Paramountcy urged his subjects to commit to peace, before during, and after the December 2024 general elections.
