All is set for the Amenfi West by elections as the four main political parties- NPP, NDC, PPP and UFP- battle for the parliamentary seat of the constituency on Tuesday.
The seat became vacant following the death of the NDC's Member of Parliament the area, John Gyetua in October this year.
Until the NPP won the seat through a by-election held on April, 24, 2003 due to the resignation of the then NDC MP, Abraham Kofi Asante on March 26, 2003, Amenfi West was a safe seat for the ruling party.
In the race for Tuesday’s polls are Paul Denkyi, a legal practitioner who is the NPP's candidate and Eric Afful, a cocoa purchasing clerk who is the NDC's candidate.

The Progressive People’s Party (PPP) is also presenting one Abraham Kojo Buadee while the United Front Party (UFP), has Elvis Adjei as its candidate.
About 62,364 eligible voters are expected to vote in 102 polling stations in the Constituency today.
Leaders of the two leading political parties contesting the seat addressed crowds of Party faithful at rallies to round off their campaigns on Sunday. The NPP's presidential candidate, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo told the people that a win for the NPP parliamentary candidate Lawyer Denkyi would be a victory for development.

He predicted victory for Lawyer Denkyi and said what was critical was huge voter turnout for an impressive margin.
He was very hopeful that the people would not allow the last-minute projects and material things being hastely provided by the governing party to influence them into making a wrong decision.
Meanwhile the EC is currently distributing the electoral materials to the various polling centers in the constituency amidst heavy security presence to ensure a successful by election come Tuesday.
