Traders at the newly constructed Kejetia market in Kumasi are pleading with city authorities to allow their colleagues from the Central Market to join them.
The traders say a busy market would move their sales faster than the current situation where only a few of them use the facility meant for 8,400 traders.
They tell Joy News correspondent, Nana Yaw Gyimah that 5,000 shops have been allocated but the city is failing to complete the relocation of their colleagues from the Central Market to the new Kejetia market.
However, the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly says it has halted the relocation of the Central Market traders to pave way for the settlement of those who were moved out of Kejetia before construction began in 2015.
As the city’s authorities wait to complete that, the traders lament slow sales and loss of revenue which would not have been the case had their colleagues from the Central Market been allowed to join them, making the place a busy.
