AlPay, a subsidiary of Albrim Group Limited and Remit Choice, a remittance company have donated relief items to victims of the Akosombo Dam spillage at Mepe in the Volta Region.
This gesture which formed part of the two company’s corporate social responsibility was aimed at bringing some relief to the affected people.
The items, valued at GH¢100,000 include bags of rice, corn and cassava dough, salt, cartons of oil, packs of soft drinks and bottled water.
Mr Abdul Majeed Peregrino Brimah, the CEO of AlPay, who led the team to donate the items said the donation was to empathize with persons affected by the spillage.
He said the donation reflected the company's commitment to showing benevolence to the needy.
Commendation
Receiving the items on behalf of the people, Samuel Ablakwa Okudzeto, Member of Parliament (MP), for the area commended AlPay and Remit Choice for extending support to the victims, stating that it would go a long way in alleviating the difficulty faced by the people.
Describing the donation as timely, he said, the items would be evenly distributed to ensure that every affected person benefits from it.
"These items are timely, especially the bags of salt as we needed them badly," he said.
Mr Okudzeto expressed appreciation to AlPay for the gesture and called for more support.
