Dr Stephen Sackey, the Ambassador for the Federation of Aboriginal Nations of the Americas (FANA), has paid a courtesy call on Nana Kwesi Atta II, the Paramount Chief of Oguaa and a member of the Council of State.

They engaged in the promotion of cultural exchange, trade and direct foreign investment opportunities between Ghana and the Americas, particularly Rhode Island.

The Ambassador was accompanied by a delegation including Bishop Peter Kojo Sackey, Ebenezer Ato Nketia and Michael Mensah.

The FANA has ambassadors living in Africa, Europe, Mexico, South America, Canada, Japan, Polynesia, and other global locations.

The group, which has had connections with Africa since late 2022, continues to make inroads in Ghana due to the dedication of Ambassador Dr. Sackey in fulfilling the Federation’s objectives.

In a statement copied to the Ghana News Agency, Amb. Sackey said Ghana’s tourism industry has contributed over nine per cent to the country’s GDP.

He noted that the Black Star experience launched by President John Dramani Mahama is poised to further boost the economy by five billion dollars by the end of 2027.

The initiative, he said aimed to establish Ghana as a premier destination for cultural heritage, creative arts, culinary tourism and diasporan engagement.

He mentioned key objectives of the Black Star experience to include generating five billion dollars for the economy by 2027, creating thousands of jobs for artists, designers, film makers and entrepreneurs.

Others include strengthening Ghana’s cultural exports through premium retail experiences and strategic partnerships while positioning the country as Africa’s culture capital and a prime venue for international conference and global business forums.

He said the meeting underscored FANA’s commitment to building bridges between nations and promoting cultural understanding.

Nana Kwesi Atta II expressed excitement at the visit, which he said would promote cultural heritage and foster a stronger bond in community relations.

He urged government to support the ambassadorial role being played by Dr. Sackey to promote Ghana’s international relations status, adding that this is a worthy effort which would promote trade and investment in the country and expressed happiness of being part of the initiative.
