Right Reverend Daniel Yinkah Sarfo, Anglican Bishop of Kumasi, has called on the leadership of New Patriotic Party (NPP) and National Democratic Congress (NDC) to work together to bring peace, unity and development to Ghanaians.
He made the call when preaching at a New Year service at Saint Cyprian Anglican Cathedral in Kumasi on Thursday.
Rt-Rev. Yinka Sarfo expressed concern about ethnocentrism in Ghanaian politics adding, “Ghana is polarized along ethnic lines and has reached its highest peak. The worry is that the signs of ethnic conflicts in some African countries are with us in Ghana”.
He appealed to the media to be circumspect in their reportage and refrain from disseminating or harping on information that would pollute people’s minds to bring national insecurity, instability, hatred and ethnic sentiments.
Rt-Rev. Yinka Sarfo called on the Church to continue with its advocacy and prophetic role on the political, social, ethnic disaffection and religious differences saying “we must be seen as a unifying force, a beacon of peace and reconciliation”.
He stressed the need for Christians to take their devotional life serious, study the Word of God and pray effectively.
