The Awoamefia of the Anlo State Togbe Sri I II is set to mediate in the Bimbilla chieftaincy dispute in the Northern region, protracted since 1994.
The latest intervention for peace was announced by the President, Nana Akufo-Addo during his tour of the region.
The President wants to see a replication of the success chalked by a group of eminent chiefs led by the Asantehene in bringing peace to Dagbon, elusive since 2001 after a bitter, fatal dispute over chieftaincy.
The mantle for this endeavour is now on the Awoamefia of the Anlo State who pitched the proposal for mediation to the president who at the durbar praised the use of customary mediators in chieftaincy conflicts.

The President rallied some goodwill from the chiefs and people of the Nanumba land, urging them to support the Awoamefia when peace talks commence.
Two royal gates - Dasana Andani family and Nakpaa Naa Dawuni family have been in an acrimonious and violent struggle over the rightful ruler of Bimbilla.
It followed the murder of Naa Dasana Andani in 2013.
Three institutions have all declared the Dasana Andani family, rightful rulers of Bimbilla. The Supreme Court in May 2018 affirmed the decision by the National House of Chief in 2014.
The National House of Chief’s ruling was also an affirmation of an earlier Northern Regional House of chiefs ruling in favour of the Dasana Family.
Despite the emphatic declarations, Bimbilla remains a flash point for conflict.
The regent of Bimbilla, Nyelinboligu Naa Yakubu Andani Dassana earlier in his speech, raised concerns about what he described as the disregard of the Supreme Court verdict on the chieftaincy issue of the Nanumba Kingdom.
