The Global Governing Council of the Young African Women Congress (YAWC) Network has appointed a new Executive body for its Ghana Chapter, with distinguished finance and investment expert, Ms. Asana Pegobelgo, as President.
With her on the Executive body is Ms. Helina Gyamea, a women and children’s health advocate as National Vice President; Jennifer Gyabeng, legal practitioner and Rotaractoras Secretary, also doubling as Treasurer; and Sarah Boafo, a health professional as Media Liaison Officer.
Their appointments are for a period of two years each, renewable upon the successful completion of a tenure.
In a letter on behalf of the Council, Founder and Executive Chairperson of the YAWC Network, Mr. Daniel Osei Tuffuor, commended the newly appointed Executives and expressed optimism in their ability to lead the Ghana Chapter to newer heights.
Roles and Responsibilities
As National President for the YAWC Network Ghana Chapter, Ms. Asana Pegobelgo is expected to lead the organization at the national level and serve as the organization’s main representative in the country.
Her key responsibilities among other things, will be to lead delegates to the Annual Convocation of the Young African Women Congress and Sub-regional congresses; act as chairperson at all meetings of the Executive Committee and at all other meetings of the Chapter; steer the affairs of the Network with supervision from the Global Secretariat whileserving as the link between the Global Secretariat and Chapter members.
As National Vice President, Ms. Helina Gyamea will assist the President in the day to day running of the Chapter; ensure adequate logistical arrangement for programmes and activitiesof the Chapter; assume the duties of the President in her absence; and perform other duties as may be assigned her from time to time by the President.
On her part, the National Secretary/Treasurer, Ms Jennifer Gyabeng, Esq., will act as the custodian of all files,legal books and documents of the Chapter; record and keep minutes of all meetings; write and dispatch circulars, letters and other correspondences of the Chapter in countersign with the Chapter President.
Doubling as the Treasurer, she will receive and disburse all funds of the Chapter under the discretion of the National Chapter Executive Committee (NCEC) and keep regular accounts and books of the Chapter.
The National Media Liaison Officer, Ms Sarah Boafo, will also on her part, oversee and report to the Chapter President for the execution of policies related to publicity matters; liaise between the mass media and the Chapter for the publicity of the Network’s activities and issue press releases and other information on behalf of the Chapter, among others.
Profile of President
Ms. Asana Pegobelgo is an experienced financial professional with extensive experience in treasury management and investment banking.
She currently serves as the Senior Treasury Officer at Ghana National Gas Limited Company, where she plays a critical role in financial strategy and liquidity management.
Prior to her current position, Asana had built a distinguished 13-year career in the investment banking industry, specializing in business development, portfolio management, and relationship management for high-net-worth individuals.
She is a certified Project Management Professional (PMP) with accreditation from PMI Global and holds an Executive Master of Business Administration (EMBA) from the Swiss Business School in Zurich.
Prior, she earned a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology and Political Science from the University of Ghana, Legon; and is currently pursuing a professional certification in Accounting by theInstitute of Chartered Accountants Ghana.
Beyond her professional achievements, Asana is deeply committed to philanthropy and social impact and is passionate about supporting the less privileged and marginalized in society through her active participation in volunteering initiatives.
A former member of the Global Projects and Campaigns Committee of the YAWC Network, she strongly believes in the principle that "there is more blessing in giving."
In her leisure time, she enjoys reading, engaging in sporting activities, and dancing.
Vice President Profile
Ms. Helina Gyamea is a Deputy Chief Health Tutor, as well as the Head of Department for Community Health Nutrition in the College of Health, Yamfo in Ghana’s Ahafo Region, with 21 years of experience in women and children’s health.
She obtained a diploma in 2004 from the College of Health, Kintampo, as a Disease Control Officer and went on to acquire a degree in Health Science (disease control option)in 2013.
She later graduated from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) with a Master’s Degree in Human Nutrition and Dietetics in 2018 where she enrolled in same university to pursue a PhD in same course in 2023.

A member of the Ghana Bar Association, Ms. JenniferGyabeng, Esq. is a passionate and determined lawyer and a Rotaractor who believes in service above self and is eager to make a meaningful impact in the legal field and hercommunity.
She holds a bachelor’s degree in Political Science from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology(KNUST) and a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) from the University of Cape Coast (UCC).
With a strong sense of ethics, a focus on integrity, and a genuine passion for justice, she aims to be a formidable advocate in the legal profession and a fierce advocate for a world where every woman has the opportunity to succeed, regardless of her circumstances.
Media Liaison Officer Profile
Ms. Sarah Boafo is a dedicated health professional (nurse) currently pursuing a Master of Philosophy (MPhil) in Public Health.
She is also a digital marketer and customer service expert. In addition to being the CEO of Annodeluxe and Executives Ladies Ushering Agency, she is the founder of the Xpringchild Foundation.
