The Paramount Chief of Awudome, Togbega Addai Kwasi Djanie XIII, has made a fervent appeal to the government for immediate action on the deteriorating road network in Anyirawase and Tsawenu within the Ho West District.
Continuous heavy rainfall has led to significant damage on these roads, rendering them deplorable and potentially hazardous.
During his address at the Awo Festival, celebrated by the Chiefs and residents of Awudome Anyirawas, Togbega Addai Kwasi Djanie XIII took the opportunity to highlight the urgent need for assistance.
He specifically drew attention to a critical section of the road that he deemed a severe safety concern, urging the government to address it promptly to avert potential disasters.
"Let me also use this opportunity to draw our attention to a similar development threatening to cut us off from the regional capital. The portion between Anyirawase and Tsawenu where running water has almost taken half of the road must be seen as a huge death trap that must not be allowed to take any human life before it gets fixed."
The Chief also implored the government, through the regional minister, to prioritise the comprehensive rehabilitation or reconstruction of the entire route between Sokode and Awudome.
Furthermore, he highlighted the dire condition of the 11-kilometer stretch between Anyirawase and Bame.
Continuing his plea regarding road infrastructure, Torgbe called upon the Vice President, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia to assist in the completion of the road between Anyirawase and Tsibu, a project initiated in the 1970s but abandoned, resumed in 2011, and subsequently halted.
He stressed the importance of providing residents of Tsibu with efficient access to the regional capital and how the construction of this link road would contribute to realising that aspiration.
On his part, the Member of Parliament (MP) for the area, Emmanuel Bedzrah, disclosed plans to collaborate with the local community to ensure the successful completion of the project and enhance the overall aesthetics of the region.
