The Managing Editor of the Al-Hajj newspaper Alhaji Iddrisu Bature has challenged the former CEO of Kumasi Asante Kotoko, Herbert Mensah to provide evidence that President Mills’ plans to use about GHS90 million to fuel his campaign for flagbearership of the NDC.According to him, it is a deliberate attempt by Herbert Mensah, whom he claimed is a staunch member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to break up the NDC.Mr. Herbert Mensah, a staunch supporter of Nana Konadu’s candidature to challenge President Mills for the party’s flagbearership on Adom FM's Dwaso Nsem programme Tuesday, alleged that, the Mills campaign team intend to use GHS90 million to buy votes from party delegates just to ensure victory for President Mills over Nana Konadu. He said he and former President Rawlings discovered the information from security tapes they got from the Castle.Alhaji Bature speaking on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen programme Tuesday explained that the allegations by Herbert Mensah are false because he has no tape to substantiate his claims. He said that is just an agenda by him (Herbert) to tarnish the image and reputation of President Mills for his parochial interest.Alhaji Bature noted that President Mills would never spend such a huge amount of money on party primary at the expense of developmental projects to better the lives of Ghanaians.“As for President Mills I can vouch for him; he will never steal from the state. President Mills is one person this country must be grateful to have had,” he added. He called on the National Executives of the NDC to call Herbert Mensah to order to protect the party’s image and integrity. He also advised Herbert Mensah to focus on his business and stop meddling in the internal affairs of the ruling party.“When you say you are not a politician don’t dabble in politics; don’t dabble in NDC politics. We come out here every day to defend the NDC (and) people know us; you have been running from the NDC, now you are trying to create so many damages to the NDC,” he lamented. However, Aljahi Bature believes the picking of nomination forms by Dr. Ekwow Spio Garbrah to contest the flagbearership position of the party a few hours to close of nominations would further deepen the “warfare” in the NDC.“For Spio Garbrah, it is his right to run but whether he will run or not; I still insist that (come) July 9, there would be one candidate."Story by Adwoa Gyasiwaa/Myjoyonline.com/Ghana
