Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has promised to leave no stone unturned in a bid to make the Fire Academies and officers in Ghana the best on the African continent.
The vice president made the bold declaration when he commissioned some facilities at the Fire Academy and Training school at James town in Accra.
The facilities commissioned include a 600-capacity classroom block, a dining hall, male and female dormitories, and two hydraulic platforms.
Additionally, some seven thousand fire officers have, since 2017, been recruited into the service as part of government's effort to make the Ghana fire Service an efficient entity.
Fire outbreaks, particularly market fires have in recent years wreaked havoc and obliterated businesses, property and even death.
The interventions according to the Vice President are to help fire officers execute their core mandate of saving lives and property in a more efficient manner.
"In the coming years government intends to make the fire Academy and training school Africa's best by providing training facilities such as simulators, which comprises of fire fighting simulators and urban search and rescue simulators to keep firefighters abreast with modern fire fighting and rescue skills".
He also urged fire officers to remain steadfast and committed to their mandates of saving lives and property by making the best out of the facilities that have been made available to them
