Ghana international, Bernard Tekpetey, over the weekend, organised a blood donation exercise in collaboration with the National Blood Bank.
The blood donation exercise also saw the partnership with the Evelyn Arthur Health Foundation with the event taking place at the Athletic Oval of the University of Ghana on Saturday, June 15.

The Ludogorets forward came up with the initiative through the Bernard Tekpetey Foundation which has overseen many projects in recent years as part of his desire to give back to his country.
The player, explaining the rationale behind the exercise said, "We face numerous challenges when it comes to blood. Previously, we had a significant issue. I realized there was a shortage of blood, which led to the loss of life. This prompted me to discuss the matter with the CEO of the National Blood Service, and we agreed to organize an event like this to support people, save lives, and make a meaningful impact on human lives."
"You might not know who you are saving – it could be your mother, father, sister, or brother. You have no idea, but when you come on board and donate your blood to support someone, the reward will definitely be great. God will bless you. We are just human, and we are here to pave the way. I will also donate blood."
In attendance at the event were personalities such as Belgium-based footballer, David Atanga, as well as Joshua of the Keche fame.
Evelyn Arthur, who is the CEO of the Evelyn Arthur Health Foundation, also talked about the need for people to get involved in blood donation exercises more often.

"Basically, every individual can donate blood between a three-month interval. When you donate the first one today, three months later we assume you might have eaten well to replenish the lost nutrient," she said.
"So by three months, you should be able to donate another blood. We need a lot of blood that we encourage that as short as three months, everyone should be able to come back to donate."
Tekpetey, at the end of the 2023/24 season, scored 10 goals and registered five assists as his side won the Bulgarian league as well as the domestic cup.
