The Nanumba North District Assembly says it can no longer bear the cost of maintaining security officers on peacekeeping mission in the District.
District Chief Executive of the area, Alhaji Mohammed Ibn Abass, told Joy News the assembly has so far spent about Ȼ300,000 in keeping peace in the area.
The assembly has therefore made an appeal to the National Security to come to their aid in order to keep the peace officers.
Bimbila, which is the Nanumba North District capital, as well as neighbouring communities have been on a curfew after the murder of the overlord of Nanun, Na-Andani Dasana and four other people last year.
The DCE said the cost of maintaing the peacekeepers is taking a heavy toll on the District Assembly’s finances.
Alhaji Ibn Abass said the money spent on maintaining security could have been used in projects which will foster the development of the district.
He has also appealed to residents to use the laid down channels in resolving their differences to discourage acts that will compromise the peace and security of the district.
