Ballot papers delivered for the Tolon and Tamale Central constituencies of the Northern Region for the December 28 presidential runoff are said to be unsuitable.
The regional office of the Electoral Commission which took delivery of the voting materials is promising to correct the situation after party agents reported blots on the ballot papers.
The Director of the Regional Electoral Commission, Sylvester Kanyi, told Joy News the materials were received Sunday evening and upon examination, the issue was brought to his notice. He assured the commission would work to rectify it.
National Democratic Congress and New Patriotic Party representatives who participated in the examination, told Joy News’ regional correspondent, Mahama Shaibu that while the blots may be explained away and ignored, party followers could interpret that to be pre-thumb printed ballots and undermine the electoral process.
They had called in their superiors to go help solve the problem.
