Ghanaian dancehall artiste Shatta Wale has shed light on a recent lawsuit filed against him by his former manager, Lawrence Nana Asiamah Hanson, aka Bullgod.
Speaking in an exclusive interview with NY DJ on BTM Afrika, the Already hitmaker said Bulldog was in court to enforce an out-of-court settlement agreement arrived at by the two almost a year ago following a defamation lawsuit.
He revealed that the parties had agreed to an out-of-court settlement which he (Shatta Wale) was yet to honour.
Asked why he had not honoured the agreement yet, Shatta Wale explained that Bulldog was not available when his team wanted to make the payment. He also revealed he believes Bulldog’s attempt to revisit the law courts is premised on malice.
He therefore revealed that Bulldog enjoys litigation because his house is next to a law court.
“There’s no different cause of action. Bulldog just wants to take his money. He wasn’t in Ghana when we wanted to make payment. You see Bulldog, if this is the house, this is the court so he wakes up and goes to the court anytime. When a chicken clucks, he goes to court. When a taxi driver toots the horn, he goes to court because his house is just close to the court,” he said.
In the last quarter of the year 2022, Bulldog sued his former artiste for defamation.
This was after the musician threatened to expose his alleged secret regarding the death of the late artiste manager, Fennec Okyere, among others.
A year on (March 2023), lawyers for the parties agreed to settle the defamation lawsuit case out of court.
The lawyer for Bulldog, Justice Srem Sai, made this known when they appeared in court on Tuesday, March 7, 2023.
However, Shatta Wale is yet to honour his promise of paying Bulldog and his lawyers an agreed legal fee of GHC100,000.
