The Confederation of African Football has started inspection visits to the six nations bidding for the 2019 and 2021 editions of the Africa Cup of Nations.
CAF inspectors began their work in West Africa, visiting Guinea last week. This week the delegation is in Ivory Coast; the visit ends on Friday.
Over the coming months, the delegation will make similar visits to Algeria, Cameroon, Zambia and Congo DR.
The committee comprises two members of the CAF Executive Committee, Amadou Diakite and Adoum Djibrin, FIFA official Walter Gagg, CAF expert Paul Bassey and CAF Africa Cup tournaments director Amr Fahmy.
While in Guinea from April 7 to 12, the committee visited the proposed AFCON host cities of Labe, Kankan, Nzerekore and Conakry, where they inspected hospitals, hotels, roads, airports, training pitches and stadiums and held a series of meetings with the country’s football authorities.
After completing its inspection tour of the bidding nations, the committee will present its report to CAF. The CAF Executive Committee will decide the host nations for 2019 and 2021 at its meeting in September.
