The Accra Catholic Archdiocese through the Catholic Relief Services is supporting victims of June 3 floods disaster in some selected municipalities in Accra with 240 Ghana cedis per head.
A total of 2000 vulnerable households representing over 8000 persons affected by the floods are expected to benefit from the total GHC536, 000 package under the first phase.
Over 150 lives were lost in the floods which was exacerbated by a gas explosion at filling station at the Kwame Nkrumah Avenue in Accra. Thousands of people have been displaced and several million cedis worth of properties were destroyed.

Beneficiaries going through the process to access financial support
The Cash Grant Module of the Accra Catholic Archdiocese is to enable beneficiaries buy building materials, essential hardware, food stuffs, clothing, and mattresses among others.
Areas to be covered are Ledzokuku Krowor Municipal Assembly (LEKMA), 285; Ga Central Municipal Assembly, 360; Ablekuma, 531; Mamprobi, 123; and Osu Klottey, 701.

Mr. John Lloyd Fiifi Sackey, Ag. Director of Directorate of Social Development of the National Catholic Secretariat, told myjoyonline.com victims at Ablekuma and Osu Klottey have already been attended to. The team would move to Ledzokuku Krowor Municipal Assembly on Friday, he said.
The donation from the Accra Catholic Archdiocese was made possible with support from Catholic Relief Services and National Catholic Secretariat, Mr. Sackey explained.

He appealed to Catholic faithfuls, the general public, and corporate bodies to support the Accra Catholic Archdiocese to enable them raise enough funds to support victims who were not covered under the first phase.
