Ghanaian culinary humanitarian, Chef Abbys, has successfully led one of the largest privately organised feeding initiatives in the country, serving over 20,000 people on the streets of Accra through the landmark project “The Big Street Feast”, under the mantra “Wherever you are, free food will find you.”
Speaking after the event, the culinary enthusiast expressed how overwhelmed she felt to have fed such a large number of people on the streets and put smiles on their faces.

“Our goal was simple — to make everyone feel happy and loved. So in every plate we served, we added a smile. We made sure no one was left out, and that every person felt seen, cared for, and appreciated. That was the true foundation of The Big Street Feast,” said Chef Abbys.

Food was distributed across four major vantage points in Accra — Efua Sutherland Park, Fadama Astroturf, Madina Astroturf, and Kwabenya Market — while seven Yango trucks delivered meals to ten distant communities, including Dome, Pokuase, Ablekuma, Dansoman, West Hills, Jamestown, Bukom, Spintex, Teshie, and Ashaley Botwe. A mobile truck also toured the city, reaching people unable to access the distribution centres.

This milestone was supported by partners including Kivo, Yango, Everpack, Rafimex Company Ltd, Fairway Care, Lucozade, Perla, the Diaspora Affairs Office, Pureheaven, Samyang, Ahmad Tea, Volta Catch, The GC Brand, Chef Abby’s Snapchat Family, Loncha, Charnok Cleaning Services, M-Lock Foundation, The Luckiest *712#, and Sheeba Xafe.

Sponsors included Don Simon, De Rio Farms, Nita’s Bakery, Roadman Grill, Laly’s Eatery, Steezer’s Kitchen, Brunch, Joemens Popcorn, Ciscakes, Six 9 Burgers, EDM Festival, Duku’s Bakery, OG White Sugar, Kenkey Express, Treats and Bakes, Elite Seasons Catering Services, BeNice Catering Services, Ako Fresh, Menaoye Foods, Xie Delicacies, Nirley’s Attieke, Fyaa’s Kitchen, Ann Frufresh, Food Gist, DSTRKT 24, Komis Kenkey, Yuki Soo, Waakye Plus, Ready Milk Tea, Adom Fingers, Believes Comfort Kitchen, Baker’s Girl, Koko Mu PhD, Mugs and Mornings, Food Bank, and A1 Bread.
