Pastor Eric Abrahams-Appiah, Head Pastor of Winners Chapel International, Ho, has urged pastors not to be only interested in "sending people to heaven" but concentrate on how to make their members economically relevant to society.
He said idle worshippers of the Almighty may not inherit the "Kingdom of God" because poverty would compel them to succumb to social vices, which could hinder their chances of going to heaven.
Pastor Abrahams-Appiah said these at the end of a five-day "Industrial and Commercial Seminar and Fair" organized by the Church in Ho.
It was on the theme; "Discovering and unearthing the hidden potential in you for accelerated growth".
Pastor Abrahams-Appiah said it is unscriptural for Christians to be idle and poor and charged Christians to put their talents to work to bring out hidden potentials in them.
Pastor Abrahams-Appiah said, if this was done, Christians would become very influential and good mentors in society to enhance the work of God.
He expressed concern about the widening gap between the rich and the poor in the country and called on pastors to help close the gap by empowering their members to be economically productive.
Togbe Afede XIV, Agbogbomefia of Asogli Traditional Area in a speech read on his behalf on the future of industry in the Volta Region, described the Region as a sleeping giant with many economic opportunities.
He observed that the Region has mineral resources such as jasper, iron ore, talc and clay aside its human resources and said what it needed most was government support to develop.
Togbe Afede pledged the preparedness of the chiefs of the Region to create a conducive investment environment and called on the government to introduce policies that would bring the cost and access to capital within the reach of entrepreneurs and industrialists in the region.
Earlier, Mr. Hope Kofi Amrado, Volta Regional Director of the Ghana Export Promotion Council briefed the gathering on the role of the Council in helping individuals to export their products.
The exhibition attracted exhibitors from across the Region who showcased items from fruits to textiles.
