Church of Stories is returning with another audio drama after their groundbreaking debut, Goodbye Gold Coast.
The new drama series, The Gold Coast Darlings promises to immerse listeners in a world of political intrigue, subterfuge, and the vibrant sounds of 1950s Accra.
It is 1956 in Gold Coast. A few weeks to the elections, which set the tone for independence a year later. Directed by Joewackle J. Kusi, the six-part show follows a young gifted singer, Sika, who is convinced by Bombay, a charismatic band manager, to leave Sunyani for the capital city, where she is promised a life of stardom.
After Sika runs afoul of the law in Accra, Eoin and Victoria, ambitious agents of the Crown, seize this opportunity to incite trouble for The Widow: the owner of the all girl-band, The Gold Coast Darlings - a vengeful woman with a score to settle with Gold Coast’s political elites.
Co-written by Joewackle J. Kusi and Fui Can-Tamakloe, The Gold Coast Darlings is both a gripping political thriller and a love letter to history, sound and musicians of the time.
Starring a powerhouse cast of acting and musical talents, including Adomaa, Edinam Atatsi, Ayisi, Jasmine Baroudi, Kojo Boakye, Solomon Fixon-Owoo, Timothy Banks, and John Abeiku Sagoe.
The cast is completed by Gina Castel, Jessica Larny, Chiderah David, OB Black, Kwaku Sakyi, Mark Cofie Jnr., Mark Cofie Jnr., Miss Lankai, Sɛkyerewaa, and Joojo Addison.

As Ghana marks one hundred years of highlife, The Gold Coast Darlings explores and celebrates highlife through original soundtracks that re-imagines life, love and politics in pre-independence Accra.
The Gold Coast Darlings is produced by Church Of Stories.
More announcements, behind-the-scenes moments, and updates on the show to follow shortly. You can listen to Goodbye, Gold Coast on Spotify, Apple Podcasts or wherever you listen to your podcasts while you wait for The Gold Coast Darlings.
