Multi TV’s Cine Afrik Channel has released the final list of nominees for the public voting categories in the upcoming Ghana Movie Awards (GMA) scheduled for 25th December .
The public voting category made up of 5 sub-categories was compiled from a list of entries sent by members of the public via SMS.
The public voting category includes nominations for Favourite Actor/Actress in a Movie, Best Actor/Actress in a TV series and Best TV series (Drama).
16 individuals including last year’s best actor (local language category), Agya Koo have been shortlisted by the public and are expected to be voted for by the public to emerge winners in each of the 5 sub categories.
The Favourite Actor –movie category has Agya Koo slugging it out with John Dumelo, Prince David Osei and Majid Michel.
Favourite Actress in a movie is a fierce one with Nadia Buari, Martha Ankomah, Jackie Appiah and Nana Ama Mcbrown all making the final cut.
Outstanding male actors in TV series up for nomination include Chris Attoh (Tinsel), Funny Face (Chorkor Trotro), Omar Sheriff (Tinsel) and Koo Fori (Efiewura).
The female category has Ivy Enyonam Adjimah (Abiba), Valentina Nana Agyeiwaa (Afia Schwarzenegger), Leonora Okine (Desperation) and Auntie B (Efiewura).
Tinsel, Abiba, Chorkor Trotro and Desperation have also been nominated for the best television series.
Since the public voting category was powered by the public, members of the public are again expected to choose from the final list of nominees by sending an SMS with the name of their Favourite Actor/Actress in a Movie, Best Actor/Actress in a Television Series and the Best Television Series to the short code 1477 across mobile networks by December 24, 2011.
The main awards ceremony slated for December 25, 2011 at the Accra International Conference Center will climax the awards ceremony with the unveiling of the screen gods and goddesses.
