The Convention People’s Party (CPP) has revoked the membership of its acting General Secretary Akani Tanoh.
The decision was reached by the party’s Central Committee (CC) at an emergency meeting held on Thursday.
The party in a letter intercepted by Joy News accused Mr Tanoh of actions that violated the CPP’s constitution.
He is said to have breached Articles 13, 111, 121 and 124 of the party’s constitution which are related to the conduct of executive officers.
“Take heed to return any party property, document, or material in your possession which came under your custody as Acting General Secretary in your own interest,” reads the letter signed by CPP National Chairman, Prof Edmund N. Delle.
Mr Tanoh in his reaction, described the claims made against him as “bogus and useless,” urging Ghanaians to disregard it.
He said he did not commit any offence, pointing out he only spoke publicly about the "corrupt activities" of the party's 2016 flagbearer, Ivor Kobina Greenstreet and other executive members of the CPP.
"They have breached all the provisions in the constitution," he said, adding the party's CC should concern itself with the corrupt tendencies of the party's leadership.
Mr Tanoh explained he did not support Mr Greenstreet in the 2016 elections because he was "irresponsible."
"The National Democratic Congress (NDC) was reviving projects of Kwame Nkrumah...so why choose a dead party?" he asked.
He said he has spoken to his lawyer and they will react to the "claim" of his dismissal from the party. "They have no locus to restrict me from going to the party's office."
