The Convention People's Party (CPP) flagbearers and other party executive have expressed their condolences to the Asantehene, Otumfour Osei Tutu II and people of Asanteman following the passing of the Asantehemaa.
The Manhyia Palace officially announced the death of 111-year-old queen mother of Asanteman, Nana Afia Kobi who reigned for 39 years.
The late Nana Afia Kobi was enstooled in 1977 as the 13th queen mother of the Asante Kingdom since 1695 after the late Nana Ama Serwaa Nyarko II who reigned from 1945 to 1977.
She saw the reign of the late Otumfuo Opoku Ware II, as Asantehene who reigned from 1970 to 1999.
Lauding her virtues, the CPP in a statement signed by the National Chairman and Leader Prof Edmund N Delle said, "we are moved beyond words to describe the enormity of this loss, considering the bulwark of wisdom we have lost in the person of Baapanin Nana Asantehemaa."
"We recall the diplomacy and dexterity she was made of, when through her instrumentality Asanteman had such a great king in the person of the sitting Otumfour," the statement added.

Below is the statement:
Nananom nkwaso. The CPP have learnt with deepest regret the journey of Abrewatia, the Asantehemaa, Nana Afua Kobi Serwaa Ampem to “the village".
On behalf of my good self and that of the Flagbearer and Leadership of the CPP, we wish to express our heartfelt condolence to Oyoko Abusua, Asanteman and especially Krobea Asante Kotoko Hene, Otekokoso Otumfour Osei Tutu Ababio.
We are moved beyond words to describe the enormity of this loss, considering the bulwark of wisdom we have lost in the person of Baapanin Nana Asantehemaa.
We recall the diplomacy and dexterity she was made of, when through her instrumentality Asanteman had such a great king in the person of the sitting Otumfour.
The display of unequalled astuteness in kingship, administration, education and above all justice by the Otumfour does not come only from learning and life experience but could be seen to have run through your blood, Baapanin, Nana Abrewatia.
“Obra twa wuo, owuo kura adee nso a nkwa ntumi nnye,”
The CPP would have loved to have you here forever as the backbone to the Asante Kingdom and Ghana as a whole but we are even more convinced that you would now be of better help to the living as you operate from the ancestral world.
Asanteman nkwaso, ye ma Asanteman hyeden, ye ma Asanteman yaako. Ewurade nkyekyere mo were. (Long live Asanteman, condolence Asanteman, the CPP grieves with you Asanteman, The LORD comfort you)
Obaapanin nante yie, wo ko a eya kae yen, so yen daepa, na saman pa na ye to no bad in. Obaapanin due, due ne amanehunu. Wo nananom bekae wo daa.
(Fare thee well Obaapanin, when you go do remember us, bring us good dreams for children are named after good spirits, you grandchildren will ever remember you.)
