Musician, D-Black, has urged creative arts persons in the country, to find other sources of income if they want to become wealthy.

Speaking to Lexis Bill on Joy FM, Friday, May 28, he said not every creative person can be sustained with the amount of money they earn from their works.

This, D-Black, explained is because there are not enough systems and structures in place for artistes to build the wealth that they want.

“I don't think we’ve gotten to that point in Ghana where a creative person can become a wealthy person financially just by being a creative. If you live within your means you can still make ends meet. But if you are trying to be a rich man you can't be a creative only.”

“There are not enough business structures to let that happen right now. Our creative industry is not structured properly enough to allow that to happen," he said.

The ‘Personal Person’ hitmaker, who has invested in other business ventures, said he and some other people in the sector were hit with the reality early on in their career.

“There is nothing you can do about it unless you invest in hiring a team who understand the business, who are able to take your brand to the next level, and invest in other areas.”

D-Black, however, added that some artistes can survive on the little money they make as long as they spend within their budget, live comfortably and/or have no aim of becoming wealthy.
