A security analyst Emmanuel Bombande says the death of the Paramount Chief of the Gonja Traditional area could either be landmark or suicidal in the peace process in Dagbon.
Yagbonwura, Bawa Doshei until his death on Saturday was a member of the three eminent chiefs mediating the Dagbon crisis between the Abudus and Andanis.
Bombande reckons the death of the 102 year old chief could galvanize the two feuding parties to bury their hatchets having been witnesses to the commitment of the Yagbonwura to bring peace between them.
On the other hand, he fears the huge gap created by the death of Bawa Doshie could lead to growing anxiety between the two parties which could lead to an undesirable end.
He believes lasting peace could only be assured depending on how the committee of eminent chiefs led by Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II manage the seeming void.
The Andani side already has paid glowing tribute to the objectivity of the late king.
The two ethnic groups have been involved in a protracted conflict after the murder of the Ya-Na Yakubu Andani and members of his elders in 2002 culminating into the constitution of the three eminent chiefs by the erstwhile Kufuor administration to resolve the conflict.
It is not too clear what cause of action will be taken by the chiefs to resolve the conflict.
