The 2024 edition of Diaspora Africa Conference Ghana has recorded huge success, with Ghanaian real estate company Royal Kingdom Estate standing tall in its proceedings.

The three-day event which took place at Academic City University College in Accra from August 30 to September 2, 2024 on the theme “Building resilient connections: the power of African Diaspora”, saw an impressive attendance from both indigenous Ghanaians and members of the African diaspora.

The event created an avenue for leaders in the business, technology and real estate sectors to share well-informed and detailed insights into their respective industries, while attendees capitalized on the platform to network and create sustainable partnerships for the future.

Among its panelists were seasoned speakers Warren Winston - Global Strategist, Dr. Kennedy Nnadi - CEO of Pennek Group, Hanna Atiase – CEO E. Wells Realty & Consultancy, Danny Angels – CEO of Royal Kingdom Estate, and a few others, all of whom took turns to inform, educate and discuss the prospects of Ghana in varied contexts and sectors.

This year’s edition, which was officially partnered by Royal Kingdom Estate focused on matters within the real estate sector; bridging the gap between Africa and its diaspora, challenges, funding, and investment opportunities for members of the diaspora. Among the attendees from the world over were analysts, students in the real estate field, and investors.

A key fact established during one of the sessions was the numerous opportunities that have been birthed forth since the introduction of the ‘Year of Return’ and ‘December in Ghana’ by the Ministry of Toursim, Arts and Culture, and the Government of Ghana. Hither to, the Western world upheld negative perceptions about Africa, especially in its real estate industry. 

However, the introduction of these initiatives has been an eye-opener on the prospects of the Ghanaian real estate sector.

Many who have felt at home upon visits to the country have taken keen interests in purchasing homes and investing in real estate which in effects contributes to the development of the nation.

CEO of Royal Kingdom Estate, Danny Angels, confirmed this revelation, saying, “when people come to Ghana and see the architectural prowess of Ghanaians, they marvel”.

He used the platform to encourage players in the housing value chain to exhibit a high level of professionalism in dealing with investors and consumers who return from the diaspora. 

The mention of these ethics were necessitated by the fear and barrier of losing out on investments, stemming from the dealings of unscrupulous and fraudulent individuals in times past, a few of such experiences which were shared by some attendees of the conference.

Moderator of one aspect of the conference, Hanna Atiase, in sharing her opinion on how to seamlessly bridge the gap between Africa and the diaspora explained that it is imperative to create channels of investments that can be safeguarded. 

“A lot of people only do checks with the Lands Commission, but there are about eight other places to do due diligence before investing in real estate in Ghana, which is why this conference is educating people on the avenues that implement systems and structures that people are familiar with overseas”, she expatiated.

It is safe to say attendees of the 2024 Diaspora Africa Conference – Ghana left with loads of eye-opening information and education in the real estate sector with a conviction to invest and spread the word as well.

They were further treated to a tour of some of Royal Kingdom Estate’s real estate sites; both prime and developing. The Decade, a short-let apartment at East Airport, The Future, a mixed use apartment of about 80 units, land at Abokobi Hill named The View, BlackStar Village at Berekuso and Grace City at Aburi-Amanfro are some of the sites visited in confirmation of the organization’s efforts in fostering partnerships and its quest to improve the real estate industry in Ghana.

Asked about the motivation behind these selfless education and knowledge expended to members of the diaspora and the decision to partner the 2024 Diaspora Africa Conference Ghana, Mr. Angels reiterated, “we aim to foster collaborations between the diaspora and Africa in improving the situation of infrastructure in Africa, as well as encourage the right investment in the continent, and sponsoring this event is one of our little ways to help achieve this goal.
