The Minister in-charge of the Anointed One Presbyterian Church at Sakumono, Reverend Emmanuel Adu Tetteh, has cautioned family and community members against accusing elderly people of witchcraft. He advised people to take care of their grown-up parents and members of their families, since the fifth commandment enjoins children to "honour your father and your mother, so that you may live long in the land the Lord your God is giving you." Rev. Tetteh gave the caution at a ceremony to honour aged members of the congregation on Sunday. The programme coincided with a ceremony for some children service members who have graduated to the Junior Youth and some Junior Youth members to the Young People's Guild. He advised the youth to lead responsible lives and make use of their God-given talents, instead of wasting their energies on frivolous things that tend to jeopardise their future development. "Don't blame any old man or old lady in your family when you mess up with your lives and tend to feel the negative impact of such behaviour," he said. He reminded the graduates that they were still under the guidance and authority of their parents and the church, stressing that they had been groomed and nurtured for the next stage of life. He took a swipe at some students who tended to hold street jams and carnival after completing junior high school (JHS) and said life did not end after graduating from JHS. Rev. Tetteh advised parents to exercise strict parental control over the adolescent, stressing that "at their age, they are totally confused and it is difficult for them as they face a lot of peer pressure." He advised them to commit themselves to the Lord to help them sail through and grow to lead responsible and successful adult lives. Preaching the sermon, the Catechist in-charge of the congregation, Mrs Monica Aba Otoo, advised Christians to build their lives on Christ who provides a solid rock and everlasting peace to all those who call on him for guidance and direction in the face of trials and tribulations. The Reverend Minister also used the occasion to launch the church's youth development agenda festival, dubbed YUDAFEST 2010. He said the church believed that every youth had talent and skills to be tapped and nurtured for the development of the church and society, and appealed to all to support the programme.
