The Board of Directors of Kumasi Asante Kotoko has put on hold the directive by the erstwhile Dr K.K. Sarpong administration to head coach Mas-Ud Didi Dramani to resign or get the sack. The board, now chaired in the interim by Kumasi-based lawyer, Mr Paul Adu-Gyamfi, has decided to invite the coach, who is a technical instructor of CAF, to a meeting in Kumasi on Saturday to discuss his future with the club. There are strong indications that the coach, who has one year left on his contract, would be impressed upon to remain with the club. Speaking to the Graphic Sports Tuesday, the spokesman for the board, Mr Jerry Asare said, “On our records the coach has not been sacked.” “We need to sit down with him to professionally decide his future with Kotoko. As we speak now he is still our coach,” Jerry said. Dramani, who won the premier league with Kotoko, was reported to have been asked by the former administration to pack out or get the sacked. Mr Asare said, “We understand there was some form of conflict between the coach and the former management, that is why we are inviting him to see the way forward." Even before the league ended, news was rife that the coach would get the sack because management was not impressed with the output of the team. A Spanish-Brazillian coach, Robert Carlos Paul, who took Real Tamale United to relegation, was said to be pencilled in as replacement for Dramani. The coach appeared to have incurred the wrath of the management for failing to take the team to the group stage of the CAF Champions League. In the midst of the rift between him and the erstwhile management, Dramani packed bag and baggage for Accra and had since not returned to Kumasi. Unconfirmed reports indicated he was being courted by other clubs, with one of the clubs ready to pay him about 50 percent more than what he was receiving at Kotoko. In the midst of the development, former coach Abdul Razak, popped up declaring his intention to return to the coaching job of Kotoko.
