e-Crime Bureau, Ghana’s leading Cyber Security and Investigations firm was on Friday, June 28, crowned the Cyber Security Company of the Year, for the second time running at the 9th Edition of the Ghana Information Technology & Telecommunications Awards (GITTA).
The event came off at the plush Movenpick Ambassador Hotel in Accra.
The prestigious annual event organised by Instinct Wave celebrates individuals and institutions whose works have over the past year promoted innovation and excellence in Ghana’s ICT sector.
The Vice President, Dr. Mahammadu Bawumia graced the occasion as the special guest of honour and received the award as the Digital Leader of the Year for his phenomenal contribution to Ghana’s digital economy journey.
The Chief Executive Officer of Instinct Wave, organisers of the Ghana Information Technology & Telecommunications Awards, in his address assured the gathering of their commitment to sustain the awards scheme, so as to recognise all stakeholders who are working hard and contributing to moving the industry forward.
He also added that, the presence of the Vice President of the Republic of Ghana is a demonstration of the government commitment in promoting growth in the industry.
e-Crime Bureau beat competition from other notable players within the cyber security industry to emerge the winner after going through a rigorous selection and evaluation process.
The Bureau’s Cyber Threat Intelligence Team has built industry standard cyber threat intelligence infrastructure to support organisations across every sector to proactively control the impact of cyber-attacks.
This technology has helped institutions to anticipate, plan and prepare their IT security against any cyber-attack. e-Crime Bureau has over the year upgraded and deployed a Passport Verification Software (P3) Tool for institutions to address the growing fraud trends involved in the use of fake passports (whether Ghanaian or passports of other nationalities) for transactions.
An ultra-modern Cyber Training Laboratory has been setup under its collaboration with the Kofi Annan International Peacekeeping Training Centre (KAIPTC), which has expanded and enhanced practical/lab-based training experience in cyber security and digital forensics for both technical and non-technical professionals.
The e-Crime Academy successfully certified a second batch of about 30 IT professionals with Certified Digital Forensics Examiner (C|DFE). The organisation has also embarked on significant cyber security capacity building initiatives through collaborations with key industry stakeholders and partners for the period under review.
Receiving the award on behalf of the Board of Directors and Staff, Dr. Suzanne Nti, a Senior Consultant of e-Crime Bureau expressed her delight for the industry recognition which comes to once again affirm e-Crime Bureau’s commitment to maintain its leadership in cyber security and investigation not only in Ghana but also in Africa.
Dr. Nti appreciated organisers and the evaluation panel for the honours and emphasised on the encouragement it provides the e-Crime Bureau Team to go the extra mile to improve upon delivery standards to meet international consulting best practices and exceed the expectations of its clients and stakeholders.
In her closing remarks, she “thanked all loyal clients and industry partners for sticking and believing in the e-Crime Bureau brand. We want to assure all institutions across every industry irrespective of the size of your business that even though the cyber-threats landscape is dynamic and keeps experiencing changes in the nature of cyber-attacks, e-Crime Bureau is positioning itself with constant industry research and other innovative approaches to provide cutting-edge and customer-centric cyber security solutions to address the many cyber security challenges.”
