The Electoral Commission (EC) in the Ashanti Region has denied NDC allegations that the just ended special voting in the Region was dogged with fraud.
The Ashanti Regional Director of EC Mr. Kofi Asumani told Joy News the allegations are without basis.
The NDC questioned the dramatic increases in number of special voters especially in the Ashanti Region, accusing the ruling government of attempting to rig the December 28 run-off.
The Ashanti Regional Chairman of the NDC Daniel Ohene Agyakum, subsequently called for a rejection of the results of the votes in the region.
But in an interview with Joy correspondent Samson Lardi Ayenini, Mr. Asumani said nothing untoward happened.
He explained election officials who could not exercise their franchise previously, opted to do so.
He added the increases were marginal, not as alleged by the NDC.
Mr. Asumani insisted voting was conducted in a peaceful atmosphere devoid of intimidation.
He vehemently dismissed the allegations that some voters cast their ballots without their voter ID adding, "it is impossible for people to vote without ID."
