The Minister for Education, Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum, has expressed his admiration for the innovative technologies presented at the 2024 STEMNNOVATION Competition.
He highlighted that these student-led STEM projects possess significant potential to propel the government’s industrialisation agenda forward, aligning education with economic development.
During his remarks on the sidelines of the event, Dr Adutwum shared the government's intention to connect talented students with companies willing to provide grants for the commercialisation of their innovations.
This initiative aims to bridge the gap between academic innovation and real-world application, fostering a culture of entrepreneurship among the youth.
The Minister emphasised the critical need to create a framework where businesses can invest in the development of these innovative ideas.
By facilitating partnerships between students and industries, Dr. Adutwum believes that both the educational institutions and the students can reap substantial benefits from the commercialisation process.
He pointed out that empowering students to turn their innovative concepts into viable products can significantly enhance their educational experience and contribute to the nation’s economic growth.
The government's commitment to supporting these initiatives underscores its dedication to promoting STEM education as a catalyst for national development.
“In a country like ours, we must ask: how can industrialisation transform our nation? We often speak of it, but without innovators, how do we achieve it?
"This is why I believe in merging TVET and STEM. What we’ve seen today represents the take-off of our economy. I am confident the future is bright with these young innovators,” Dr. Adutwum noted.
