The bashing of the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) for going ahead with the selection of parliamentary candidates for the yet-to-be-legalised newly created constituencies is continuing unabated.
Minority Caucus on MultiTV, Monday took on the NDC, questioning the rationale for vetting and electing candidates for non-existent legal entities.
Host of the show, Yaw Buaben Asamoa, said the only way the constituencies can be said to exists is if the CI laid before parliament is approved.
The Electoral Commission last week placed before Parliament, a CI seeking to give legal effect to the creation of the constituencies because of errors.
It was immediately replaced by an amended CI which requires 21 sitting days to mature but Parliament is on recess now and in spite of the fact that the constituencies have yet to receive legal backing, the NDC is electing its candidates for the constituencies.
Mr Buaben said the EC was being pushed by the NDC to create the new constituencies, a situation he said goes against Section 67 of Act 462.
Monday’s Minority Caucus featured National Secretary of NPP Nasara Club, Alhaji Ismaela Ibrahim and a Muslim Cleric, Sheikh Awal Larry.
