The National Democratic Party (NDP) is promising to create abundance of jobs which would even trigger retirees to be re-employed under its zero-unemployment agenda, if voted into power.
The NDP Presidential Candidate, Alhaji Mohammed Frimpong said this would be achieved through deploying an inclusivity and participatory democracy, as prescribed by the framers of Ghana’s democracy in 1992.
He was addressing supporters at the Southern Sector Campaign launch of the NDP in the Volta Regional capital of Ho.
He explained that an NDP government would ensure executive power transcends from the Presidency to the local level where citizens make direct inputs, own and participate in the formulation and implementation of national policies, through the practice of participatory democracy.
“It is very necessary that any other policy prescription that we give the nation is in the vehicle of what we call participatory democracy. And for that, we are giving a rebirth of the democracy as it has been from the reception in 1992. We are giving a rebirth of our democracy”, he stressed.
He expressed optimism this would contribute to changing the narrative of the incidents of national policies failing to achieve their objectives.

“We embark fully on anything that will allow capacity building and human empowerment. We are saying so because all our primary policies are geared towards what we call zero unemployment. In other words, there will be no youth staying unemployed saying that they want to stay unemployed because they will be attracted into activities in the communities because the chiefs themselves are the ones that will generate the employment ”
He added that his government would leverage the country’s humans to ensure the effective implementation of policies focusing on social intervention, poverty alleviation, and human empowerment.
“Our primary wealth is the human capital and human capacity that we have and that is what we are going to leverage in ensuring that more jobs are created all over the place. We may even get to a stage when retirees who have gone on pension would return to be in employment. In other words, retirees would even be recycled into more jobs”, he said.
Alhaji Mohammed Frimpong further indicated that his government would focus on physical and social infrastructure development and ensure that there are enough facilities to enable the country’s workforce to be productive.
“When you are empowering the people and training them, you also provide facilities that make it possible to increase their productivity. So it means the NDP is looking at productivity, production”, he explained.
He assured that Ghanaians would witness a positive transformation in their lives when the NDP is voted to take over the governance of the country.
The General Secretary of the NDP, Prince Mensah asserted that Ghana needs fresh brains to govern the country, as the citizenry has lost hope in the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
He said the country would not witness an exodus of the youth due to unemployment as there would be enough jobs for everybody.
Mr. Mensah implored Ghanaians to help the party win power and hand it over to them, by playing participatory roles in governing the country.
“So we are charging you, as you are here today, we are all going to go out there to spread the message. Canvass for votes. We can only make the change when you and I become inclusive. That is what we are saying inclusivity and participatory democracy.
“We want to give power to the grassroots. It is time we empower the grassroots so that everybody belongs to decision-making in the country. The era of top-to-down must be over”, he said.
