In a moment that resonates with honour and privilege, Eyram Hevi, the Rotary Club president, sets the tone for an inspiring year ahead.
Addressing distinguished members of the Club, with notable dignitaries including the Governor of the new District, District 9104, DG David Kwesi Amankwah Jnr, District Governor Elect- DGE Maame Florence Hagan, Rotarians from sister clubs and guests at an impressive handing over ceremony at the Accra Lancaster Hotel on July 11, 2023, the President expressed gratitude for the trust placed in their leadership.
The occasion out-doored the new board of directors of the club, inducted two new members and saw the recognition of five Paul Harris Fellows.
The President presented a compelling account of his journey to rotary. It began back in 2010, with an invitation from Professor Sprandel, a Past District Governor of District 1841 in Germany.
At that point, the allure of adventures, particularly competing in the Volvo Ocean Race and circumnavigating the globe, took precedence. Who could have known that this fascination with sailing would eventually tie in seamlessly with the object of Rotary? It was ten years later, guided by the mentorship of Past President Albert Agbemenu, that the President fully embraced the values of Rotary, and ultimately ascended to the role of President, steering their Club towards a future imbued with purpose and hope.

With a firm commitment to service and a nod to the global Rotary community, the President enthusiastically pledged to serve the Club during the Rotary Year 2023-2024, vowing to do so with humility.
Reflecting on the path that brought them here, the President spoke about the importance of teamwork and collaboration. This sentiment draws a powerful parallel to the wisdom of Nelson Mandela, whose words "It always seems impossible until it's done" resonate as a call to club duty, unity, teamwork, perseverance to overcome challenges, break new grounds and leave an indelible mark on the world.
“An outstanding achievement is celebrated during this pivotal address—the transition from the Imagine Project to the Create Hope Project. Drawing inspiration from psychologist Charles Snyder, who champions hope as a buffer against adversity”.
The President underscores the significance of creating hope in the lives of those facing negative circumstances.

He acknowledged that the recognition of the first batch of five (5) Paul Harris Fellows and the induction of two (2) new members evokes pride and is indeed historic. These five individuals become history-makers in the Club and within the new District, District 9104. They include the president himself, Rotarian Kwabena Nketia Addae (President Elect), Rotarian Lucy Emma Alando, Rotarian Mawuli Esi Alomenu and Rotarian Akosua Oheneba-Gyambibi
He thanked the District Governor, David Osei Amankwah Jnr, for his inspiring message and vision, which galvanized these members to contribute to the annual fund and be recognised as Paul Harris Fellows.
He mentioned that, the Club's action plans are thoughtfully aligned with Rotary's areas of focus, ensuring that their efforts resonate beyond their immediate community.
In a poignant demonstration of commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, the Club made history as the first within the district to introduce an innovation of a sign language interpreter to communicate effectively with the audience as the President outlined the Club’s vision and flagship project—support for Children with cerebral palsy and mental health challenges.
He thus made a rallying call to fellow Rotarians and the community to unite in this noble endeavor.
The President also unveiled an exciting public image campaign as one of the main projects designed to amplify Rotary's impact through a compelling narrative. This initiative promises to showcase the Rotary brand in new and innovative ways, leaving a lasting digital footprint and telling the story of Rotary's positive influence.

Mr Hevi used the occasion to invite every Rotarian to contribute their unique ideas and efforts to shape the narrative of their Club and, ultimately, to create hope on a global scale.
In his concluding remarks, Rotarian President Eyram committed to building on the efforts of his predecessors with a particular focus on the Club’s Charter project.
He thanked the Immediate Past President, Rotarian Victoria Osei Prempeh and her Board for their tenure, imploring them to continue to lend their support to help shape the narrative of the Club and ultimately create hope in our community, Ghana and the world.
The past President, Rotarian Victoria Osei Prempeh in her speech also reiterated the need for more persons and organizations who are willing and committed to lend a helping hand to bodies and entities like Rotary whose focus is to provide social, mental, spiritual and most importantly material help to the needy in our communities and strive to alleviate their pain by responding with a heart of love and compassion.
