Chief Executive Officer of Strategic Communication Africa (Stratcomm), Esther Amba Numaba Cobbah, has been crowned the 2012 Marketing Woman of the Year at the 24th Chartered Institute of Marketing Ghana (CIMG) Performance Awards held at the Banquet Hall of the State House Friday.
She took home the coveted award of the night previously won by Mrs. Ellen Hagan, Chief Executive Officer, L’aine Services, a Human Resource Development organization.
The National Marketing Performance Awards is a high profile event during which individuals and organizations are acknowledged for their marketing excellence and innovations.
The awards cover six major areas: personalities, hall of famers, media organisations, not-for-profit organisations, business organisations, and products.
Professor Joshua Alabi, Vice Chancellor of the University of Professional Studies (UPS), was also adjudged the 2012 CIMG Marketing Man of the Year at the colourful ceremony held in Accra on Friday September 13, 2013.
The Economist and International Marketer, Prof Alabi, said he is poised at working hard to give quality tuition to students.
In an interview with Myjoyonline.com, an elated Esther Cobbah expressed appreciation to God for His blessings, direction and for the many successes that Stratcomm Africa has chalked over the years.
She urged marketing professionals in the country to use their skills to market Ghana to gain values internationally.
“Marketing practitioners have a responsibility to demonstrate how [marketing] tools work [so that] Ghanaian entrepreneurs as well as the government can benefit from our professional discipline”.
She noted that Stratcomm Africa's leadership position in Ghana's communication industry is well acknowledged. She added that with deep roots in Ghana, Stratcomm is gradually spreading out internationally.
Ms Cobbah has led Stratcomm Africa successfully over the past 19 years since May 13, 1994. The organization is home grown with international expertise.
Stratcomm Africa, will be celebrating its 20 years of existence as a leader in the communications industry next year. The company, which started with only one employee, now provides employment to over 50 workers.
Special awards were given to James Ebo Whye, Chief Executive Officer of Roverman Productions, and Catherine Krobo-Edusei Benson, Chief Executive Officer of Eden Tree, for their outstanding contributions towards nation building.
The National President of CIMG, Shola Safo-Duodu, said the purpose of the awards among other things aims at recognizing excellence to the promote and encourage best marketing practices in organization.
She stated that CIMG is well positioned to contribute towards nation building by making its knowledgeable members serve at all levels of government enterprises.
The CIMG National President called on government to tap into the “limitless pool of knowledge available to solve the unemployment, corruption and other socio-economic challenges that has plagued this country”.
Shola Safo-Duodu congratulated all the award winners and wished them well in their field of endevors.
