Manchester United midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger has made it into Germany's Euro 2016 squad despite his injury problems.
Schweinsteiger is one of 27 names in Low's preliminary squad, which must be whittled down to 23 by the end of the month.
FULL SQUAD
Goalkeepers: Neuer, Leno, ter-Stegen
Defenders: Mustafi, Hector, Howedes, Hummels, Can, Rudiger, Boateng, Rudy
Midfielders/ Forwards: Khedira, Schweinsteiger, Ozil, Schurrle, Podolski, Reus, Muller, Draxler, Kroos, Gotze, Bellarabi, Gomez, Brandt, Sane, Weigl, Kimmich
WHO'S MISSED OUT?
The talent on offer to Joachim Low means there are no glaring omissions, though any of Marcel Schmelzer, Matthias Ginter, Kevin Großkreutz and Jonathan Tah could be aggrieved to miss out.
But this is more about who's in, than who's out.
Schweinsteiger, the captain, has started only 13 Premier League games this season and has not appeared at all since March 20.
However, the 31-year-old has 114 caps for Germany and is an essential part of the squad after having replaced Philipp Lahm as captain following the victorious 2014 World Cup.
Podolski, 30, made his international breakthrough alongside Schweinsteiger at Euro 2004 and has 48 goals in 127 caps.
He only appeared for 192 minutes in qualifying but holds onto his place after scoring 12 goals in 29 league appearances for Galatasaray this season.
