The Executive Committee of the Ghana Football Association has temporarily closed down two Division One League centres in Prestea and Akyem Takyiman following acts of violence during league matches.The affected parks are the Prestea Park, home to Mine Stars, as well as the home ground of Istanbul FC in Akyem Tekyiman."The GFA's action is in accordance with Article 15 (2) of the GFA regulations which states that the GFA may order the closure of any league where it is satisfied that the safety of match officials, spectators and players cannot be guaranteed," a GFA statement said."At the Prestea Park where Mine Stars hosted Tarkwa United in a league match on April 21, 2013, supporters of Mine Stars physically assaulted and attacked the match officials."In Tekyiman, where Istanbul FC hosted Nania FC in another league match on Aril 3, 2013, supporters of Istanbul also threw stones and other objects on players and officials of Nania FC, as well as the match officials."Meanwhile the GFA has referred the cases to its disciplinary committee for hearing and appropriate actions in accordance with Article 15 (5) of the GFA regulations.The GFA has also ordered the Division One League Board to determine where Prestea Mine Stars and Istanbul will play their subsequent home stars in article 15 (5) of the GFA regulations.
