Michael Mensah inflicted more pain on former side Asante Kotoko to delay their title celebrations, as Wa All Stars beat the champions 3-1 in Tamale.
The former Kotoko striker scored a brace as the Blues recorded their biggest win over the Porcupine Warriors since joining the elite division in 2007.
The loss further holds back Kotoko's winning of the competition as they still have a 10-point advantage over Heart of Lions, who have a game in hand on the leaders. There are three more matches to go.
And it was Kotoko's second straight home defeat as they continue to serve a temporal home ban from the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi.
Mensah scored in the 31st and 48th minutes to give his side a comfortable two-nil lead before Seidu Bancey pulled one back for Kotoko after 58 minutes.
Kotoko's push for the equaliser rather saw them pegged back as young defender Ismail Ganiyu scored to in the 76th minute.
The champions were undeterred as they came close to scoring but Bancey missed from a spot kick to leave Kotoko with nothing more to fight for.
