Fire destroyed property worth millions of Ghana Cedis at Kokompe, where artisans ply their trade in the Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolis.
The fire, which started around 0200 hours on Monday destroyed shops containing car spare parts, lumbers, polymers and other valuables.
The Western Regional Commander of the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS), Mr Obeng Dankwa Dwamena, confirmed the incident to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in an interview in Takoradi.
It took nearly five hours for personnel of GNFS to put out the inferno.
The cause of the fire is not yet known.
Some shop owners wept uncontrollably as the fire razed their valuables. Kofi Ajei, a spare parts shop owner, told the GNA that he went for a bank loan for his business and wondered how he would get money to pay back the money or cater for his family.
