On Wednesday, President John Mahama swore into office the first batch of Ministers approved by Parliament's Appointments Committee.
Parliament on Tuesday approved seven ministerial nominees who will go on to head crucial ministries.
These included Seth Emmanuel Terkper, Minister of Finance; Hanna Serwaah Tetteh, Minister ofForeign Affairs and Regional Integration; Alhaji Collins Dauda, Minister of Water Resources, Works and Housing and Alhaji Amin Amidu Suleimani, Minister of Roads and Highways.
The others are Clement Kofi Humado, Minister off Food and Agriculture; Alhaji Inusah Fuseini, Minister of Lands and Natural Resources and Mahama Ayariga, Minister of Information and Media Relations.
Meanwhile, four other nominees are being vetted this week. Akwasi Oppong-Fosu, the Minister-designate of the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development, was the first to face questions from Committee members.
Nana Oye-Lithur, the nominee to the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection, whose nomination sparked off controversy and was vehemently opposed by the clergy on the basis of her advocacy for the protection of gays and lesbians, maintained her stance.
She told the committee although she does not promote homosexuality, those who engage in the practice have human rights that must be protected.
