The first phase of the Bonwire Kente Museum in the Ashanti Region has been commissioned to help boost tourism and the local economy.
The construction of the multi-structure Kente Museum is to promote the mass production of kente as an avenue of jobs for the youth and export.
The project is expected to attract visitors and improve revenue generation.
Speaking at the commissioning of the project, the second lady of Ghana, Samira Bawumia reiterated the government's commitment to the tourism industry.
“This museum is going to preserve our heritage and culture. The vision of the NPP government is to help boost tourism with the establishment of such projects and a way to boost economic empowerment,” she said.

Deputy Minister of Tourism, Arts, and Culture, Mark Okraku Mantey says the museum will serve as an educational hub to showcase Ghana’s culture.
“In a world that is rapidly evolving. It is crucial that we safeguard the traditions that make us who we are. The Kente museum will serve as an educational hub offering insight into the history, significance, and intricate techniques of kente weaving.” he said.
He stressed that the museum has the potential to boost tourism in the region and create economic opportunities for the people.
Bonwire hene, Nana Bobie Ansah acknowledged the government’s commitment to ensuring the completion of the products.

“This museum is a living testament of our rich history bridges our past and future it also elevates our art, story and community to the world stage ensuring our legacy thrives and inspires," he said.
