The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has launched a call for logo designs ahead of the 2027 Ghana-Japan Triple Anniversaries, which will commemorate three major milestones in the long-standing relationship between the two countries.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has invited individuals across the world to submit logo designs for the Ghana-Japan Triple Anniversaries, scheduled for celebration in 2027.

The commemorations will mark the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Ghana and Japan, the 50th anniversary of the arrival of Japan Overseas Cooperation Volunteers (JOCV) in Ghana, and the 100th anniversary of Dr Noguchi Hideyo’s stay in Ghana.

According to the Ministry, the convergence of these three milestones in the same year makes 2027 a significant moment in the history of Ghana-Japan relations.

The Ministry said the selected logo will serve as the official identity for events, publications and other materials connected to the anniversary celebrations.

The initiative, it added, is aimed at raising awareness of the special relationship between Ghana and Japan while further strengthening the friendship between the two nations.

The Ministry has indicated that submissions are open to everyone, regardless of nationality, age or place of residence.

Interested applicants are required to submit their logo designs by Wednesday, September 30, 2026.

Entries are to be submitted via email to the First Africa Division of the African Affairs Department of Japan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs at japanghana2027@mofa.go.jp and the Information and Public Affairs Bureau of Ghana’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs at ipab@mfa.gov.gh.

Submitted designs will be assessed by relevant officials, with the winning entry selected as the official logo for the Triple Anniversaries.

The winner will receive a certificate of commendation, while the results are expected to be announced on the websites of the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Ghana and Japan in November 2026, subject to change.

Ghana and Japan established diplomatic relations in March 1957, shortly after Ghana gained independence. The relationship was further strengthened in August 1977 with the arrival of the first JOCV members in Ghana.

The historical ties between the two countries also date back 100 years, when Japanese physician and bacteriologist Dr Noguchi Hideyo travelled to Ghana in November 1927 to research yellow fever.
