A forex bureau operator who also deals in gold, was robbed of an amount of GH₵250,000 cash and gold worth GH₵150,000 by two armed robbers on a motorbike.
The robbery took place at about 11:00 am on Thursday, December 28, at Amanfrom in the Ga South Municipality of the Greater Accra Region.
Alhaji Mumuni, the bureau operator, told Adom News in an interview that his money got stolen while he was with his brother, suggesting that the suspects may have trailed them from Kasoa Zongo.
He said he was on his way with his brother to purchase gold from a customer when they were attacked and robbed at Amanfrom Top Town.
Alhaji Mumuni indicated that upon reaching a section of the road, the robbers on motorbikes stopped them, pulled out pistols and started firing into the sky.
The business owner said that when he and his brother failed to hand over the bag, the suspects started firing directly at them.
Meanwhile, Jonathan Essel who witnessed the incident said bystanders wanted to intervene but the suspects directed the gun at them, amidst claims they were police officers.
