Former Defence Minister Dominic Nitiwul has warned that Ghana's sports infrastructure could deteriorate without dedicated maintenance funds.
Parliament has approved 65 million cedis for the Sports Ministry, but none of it is for infrastructure maintenance.
Speaking in Parliament, Nitiwul said facilities used for the African Games are at risk without proper funding.
"If you look at the massive infrastructure development because of the All African Games that the former Ministry undertook, They [the current Ministry] will need a lot of capital injection to be able to keep this facility well," he said on the floor of Parliament.
"There is no capital expenditure, it is zero. The finance should speak to this issues because Sports is so important to all of us especially, football.
"You cannot have a situation where by the [Sports Ministry] has nothing for capital expenditure, not even 10m cedis for him [Sports Minister] to at least take care of the pitches."
