The Former Member of Parliament for Yendi Dr Farouk Aliu Mahama, has donated GH₵10,000 to support the final funeral rites of the late Mion Lana Naa Mahamadu Abdulai V.
The donation also comprised 10 bags of maize, 10 bags of rice, 5 gallons of cooking oil, 5 cartons of tinned tomatoes, a bull, and several bags of sachet water.
The Mion Lana passed away on August 17, 2022, at the 37 Military Hospital in Accra. He was laid to rest at Sambu, the traditional capital of Mion, in accordance with Islamic customs.

The late Mion-Lana, born in 1974, was enskinned on March 3, 2019, at the Gbewa Palace in Yendi. The Mion Lana was known privately as Mahamadu Abdulai.
The Former Yendi MP urged the youth in the area to maintain peace among themselves, a legacy of the late Mion Lana.
Speaking to JoyNews, he stated that the continued peace in Mion, Yendi, and Dagbon will foster the development of the area.
Dr. Farouk assured the family of the late chief that he would always be available whenever he is needed.
The Chief of Kumbaga, Kumabaga Naa Mahama Bukari, expressed gratitude to the former MP on behalf of the family for his gesture. He noted that this is the third time Dr. Farouk has donated in support of the ongoing funeral of the late chief.

As the chiefs and dignitaries took their seats, the "lunsi," the local drummers, began to sing the praises of the late Mion-Lana, recounting his achievements and virtues. The crowd swayed to the music with their faces a mix of sorrow and joy.
Throughout the performance, the crowd was treated to a display of Dagbon's rich cultural from the beautiful designs on the chiefs' regalia to the rhythm of the drums.
The final funeral rites is a fitting tribute to the late Mion-Lana, a celebration of his life and legacy that would be remembered for generations to come.
