She believes, the resounding reactions to the death of the late George Floyd calls for unity and change for black people in the United States of America and across the world.

“Until we are able to achieve that, we will be subjugated to the same treatment they living with on a daily basis, and this has to come to an end”, she adds, at the event jointly organised with the Ghana Tourism Authority, Office of Diaspora Affairs at the Office of the President and the Diaspora African Forum.

The Tourism Minister appealed to Citizens of the US to be united and bring an end to all forms of discrimination and racism in their country.

President Nana Addo Dankwah Akufo-Addo declared 2019 as the Year of Return, attracting many African Americans, including top Hollywood personalities to visit Ghana.

For Barbara Oteng Gyasi, it demonstrates the need to come home and build Africa to a level that allows other nations to give it deserved credits.

Also, media at the event, was Ambassador Dr, Erieka Bennett, Head of Mission for the African Union of Diaspora African Forum.

She insists, “the reason why Ghana should be involved is because, they (African American) were invited back home as African Americans, hence, the need to celebrate and mourn them.
