The Ghana Education Service (GES) has dismissed the Assistant Headmaster (Academic) of KNUST Senior High School, Mr Charles Akwasi Aidoo, after a viral video showed him in a compromising situation with a female student.
In a statement issued on Monday, September 29, GES said its attention had been drawn to the video circulating on social media.
The service said it views the matter with “utmost seriousness” and has taken immediate steps in line with its commitment to safeguarding students.
“Mr Aidoo has already been removed from office, and prohibited from going to the school while thorough investigations are being carried out,” the statement, signed by GES Head of Public Relations, Daniel Fenyi, said.
GES assured parents, stakeholders and the public that due process would be followed.
“The appropriate disciplinary action will be taken in accordance with the code of conduct of the Ghana Education Service,” it added.
The service also said it's dedicated to protecting the safety and well-being of students across the country.
“The GES remains committed to upholding the highest standards of professionalism, discipline, and child protection in all our schools. We strongly condemn any acts that compromise the safety, dignity, and well-being of students,” the statement said.
