Ghana FA ExCo member Anim Addo buys Halifax Ladies

Ghana Football Association (GFA) Executive Council (ExCo) member, Samuel Anim Addo has purchased Halifax Ladies, a club that competes in the National Women's Premier League, Joy Sports can report.

Anim Addo, who is also the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Young Apostles FC, a Division One League club, acquired the women's team early this month.

There have been renewed calls for men to take up the initiative of investing in the women's game, and the football administrator has taken a step to invest in the Tema-based club.

It appears there's a partnership in the ownership structure of Halifax which could see Valued Girls, a lower division female team, serve as a feeder club.

Joy Sports understands that a communique has been sent to the respective teams, notifying them that they are one body.

We gather the playing body of each club have been told the best players would be selected from the two sides to play at the premier Women's league next season as they seek to challenge for honours locally, and even, continentally after CAF confirmed it would soon organise a Women's Champions League.

Such a move would bolster the team which had an unconvincing spell in the canceled season, securing just a victory in seven games, drawing four and losing two.

The next football season is expected to start in October, should government grant permission to the football association to organise its competitions.

The President, Nana Addo last Sunday maintained restrictions on contact sports which includes football, as a result, the sport remains suspended until further notice.

However, the GFA is confident October would be suitable to play football after a special dispensation was given for Black Maidens and Princesses to start camping for FIFA U-17 and U-20 World Cup qualifiers.
