The Ghana Football Association is going to court to press charges against the Economic and Organized Crime Office. The action follows the raid Tuesday of the offices of the FA. The investigative body cordoned off the FA’s premises and took away computers and files to aid their investigations into alleged financial malfeasance. The FA has expressed disgust at the action and indicated it was going to take legal action. Spokesperson for the GFA, Randy Abbey, said “The obvious implication is that there will be no business related to football in this country (for now), no games will be played." The situation, he said, was being monitored “and if at any point in time the clubs and the association believe there is the need to review the current situation, it will be done.” The Ghana League Clubs Association has since the raid suspended all football leagues in the country until further notice, in protest at the developments. The Minority in Parliament have suggested the government has a hand in the FA’s problems. Ranking Member on Youth and Sports, Mr Isaac Esiamah, told Joy FM’s Parliamentary Correspondent, Sammy Darko, the government's interference in the work of the GFA was too obvious to be ignored. He said since the National Democratic Congress government came into office, persistent attempts have been made to muscle the football governing body. The Member of Parliament for Mponua said the minority will adopt “all constitutional means to ensure sanity prevails in Ghana football.” But Deputy Information Minister, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa rubbished the Minority’s claims, maintaining that the government had nothing to do with the action of the EOCO. “The EOCO is an independent state organization, they went to court…to seek a court warrant and carried out their search.
