The Chief Executive Officer of Ghana Gas Company Limited, Madam Judith Adjobah Blay, says that natural gas has become a key economic enabler, fueling power generation, industrial productivity, and making a significant contribution to national development.  

Madam Blay said this at 2025 Petroleum Commission's annual Local Content Conference and Exhibition in Takoradi in the Western Region.   

She viewed this year’s theme, “Revitalising Ghana's Petroleum Exploration and Production Sector: Driving Innovation and Redefining Local Content for a Competitive Energy Economy,” as more fitting given the state of the sector.   

For, her, the theme captured the essence of the transformation the industry urgently requires as it strives to produce more natural gas to power industries and economy.  

Describing the Company as a critical midstream partner to the upstream exploration and production companies, she said Ghana Gas remained committed to investing in the infrastructure required to ensure continuous production and supply of raw gas, which in turn sustains crude oil production.  

She said beyond the existing Western Corridor Gas Infrastructure, which had served as a vital conduit for gas offtake, Ghana Gas had mapped out several strategic projects, including the Takoradi–Tema Pipeline, Gas Processing Plant (Train II), and the Mainline Compressor Project.   

These investments, she said, were designed to enhance gas evacuation capacity, ensure operational reliability, and guarantee a consistent supply for both domestic and industrial use.

However, she said the sustainability of these investments depended heavily on a stable and continuous supply of raw gas, which is within the domain of the upstream parties, adding that it was therefore, imperative that all stakeholders worked together to ensure long-term feedstock security for Ghana’s gas infrastructure.  

Ghana Gas, she revealed was now 100 per cent operated by indigenous professionals.  

"We are demonstrating that Ghanaian professionals and enterprises can stand shoulder to shoulder with the best in the global petroleum industry when the required support is provided", she added. 

She noted the need to transform local content achievements into global competitiveness, ensuring that Ghana’s energy sector remained resilient, inclusive, and poised for the future.   

“Together, we can ignite a new era for Ghana’s energy future, one powered by innovation, strengthened by partnership, and sustained by the ingenuity of our own people”, she prayed. 

Madam Blay emphasised that empowered local content remained the gold standard for the sustainable growth of industry.

"..It should not merely be a regulatory requirement but a strategic pathway toward national development, job creation, and the transfer of knowledge and technology to Ghanaians."  

She praised the Petroleum Commission for its visionary leadership and steadfast commitment to promoting local participation in Ghana’s oil and gas sector.
